Abstract

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana media daring Tempo.co membingkai insiden pendaki Brasil di Gunung Rinjani dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif serta model framing Robert N. Entman yang meliputi definisi masalah, diagnosis penyebab, penilaian moral, dan rekomendasi solusi. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian mengkaji dua puluh satu berita utuh terbitan Juni hingga Juli 2025. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberitaan Tempo.co cenderung mendefinisikan peristiwa sebagai kecelakaan pendakian dengan penekanan pada risiko alam dan kondisi medan. Penyebab lebih diarahkan pada faktor situasional, sementara penilaian moral menekankan kewaspadaan individu pendaki. Rekomendasi solusi yang disajikan bersifat terbatas dan kurang menyoroti tanggung jawab struktural. Tempo.co tidak sepenuhnya netral, sehingga berdampak pada terbatasnya diskursus publik dalam mengkritisi kebijakan.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze how the online media Tempo.co frames the incident involving a Brazilian hiker on Mount Rinjani using  qualitative methods and Robert N. Entman’s framing model, which includes problem definition, causal diagnosis, moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. Employing a qualitative approach, the study examines twenty-one news articles published between June and July 2025. The findings indicate that the coverage tends to define the event as a hiking accident, emphasizing natural risks and terrain conditions. The causes are largely attributed to situational factors, while moral judgments stress individual caution among hikers. The proposed solutions remain limited and insufficiently address structural responsibilities. As a result, the coverage is not entirely neutral and contributes to a restricted public discourse in critically addressing policy and safety management issues.
