Abstract


Gelombang meruyaknya berita sains terkait climate change di tingkat global menjadi trending topic liputan media online selama tahun 2022. Sejurus kemudian, fokus liputan bergerak pada pembahasan isu yang lebih spesifik, yaitu fenomena gelombang panas dan global carbon. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode analisis isi kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi konten berita media online sepanjang tahun 2022. Obyek penelitian ini adalah artikel berita sains dalam isu climate change di media online The New York Times dan The Guardian. Basis konseptual penelitian ini mendasarkan pada pendapat Crystle M. Bruno (2020) yang mengklasifikasikan artikel menjadi tiga bagian, yakni the introduction, the body dan the conclusion. Studi ini menemukan bahwa cara penyampaian informasi pada media online di Inggris dan Amerika menunjukkan persamaan sekaligus perbedaan. Akar persamaan terlihat pada pemilihan format long-form journalism. Sementara perbedaan teridentifikasi pada variasi penyusunan the introduction, the body dan the conclusion. Temuan yang lebih penting, arah dan perkembangan jurnalisme di Amerika dan Inggris bergerak menuju terlembaganya quality journalism.
