Peer Review Process
International Journal of Islamic Khazanah (IJIK) employs a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the scholarly integrity, originality, and relevance of each submitted manuscript. Both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
1. Initial Screening
Each manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the editorial team to verify:
- Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
- Compliance with formatting and submission guidelines.
- Originality check using plagiarism detection software (maximum similarity allowed: 20%).
Manuscripts not meeting these criteria will be rejected or returned for revision before peer review.
2. Assignment of Reviewers
Manuscripts passing the initial check are assigned to at least three independent reviewers who:
- Are experts in the manuscript’s subject area.
- Are not affiliated with the same institution as the authors.
- Must accept or decline the invitation to review within 21 days.
All identifying details are removed to maintain reviewer anonymity.
3. Review Process
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
- Originality and scholarly contribution.
- Scientific and methodological rigor.
- Relevance to contemporary Islamic challenges.
The reviewers will review the submitted article according to the guidelines and template provided by the journal. Therefore, authors are expected to ensure that their submission adheres to the journal's formatting, citation style, and structural requirements before the review process begins.
Reviewers recommend one of the following: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Feedback must be constructive and detailed. The review period is typically two to three weeks.
4. Editorial Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewer comments. If there are significantly different recommendations, a third reviewer may be consulted. Authors are notified of the decision within approximately 60 days of submission.
5. Revision and Resubmission
- Minor revisions: 14 days
- Major revisions: 30 days
Authors must provide a revised manuscript with tracked changes and a detailed response letter. Major revisions may be sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation.
6. Final Submission and Publication
Accepted manuscripts are subject to copyediting, formatting, and assignment of DOI before publication. The time from final acceptance to publication is approximately 2–4 weeks.
