Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan critical review terhadap bagian buku “Palgrave Advances in Development Studies,†yaitu artikel Part 1 changing notions of development: bringing the state back in†ditulis oleh peter calvert tahun 2005. Buku ini membahas konsep negara pembangunan yang hingga saat ini sedang mengalami kebangkitan. Pada saat yang sama terjadi perubahan Gelombang Ketiga demokratisasi, yang memberikan dasar lebih aman daripada yang diperkirakan sebelumnya oleh banyak orang. Sekalipun tidak mudah, Gelombang ketiga membujuk pemerintah, untuk menciptakan pemerintah demokratis, sehingga dapat mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi.References
