Penguatan Kesadaran Keselamatan Berlalu Lintas Pada Remaja Di Garut

Abstrak
Guna menerapkan pendekatan Manajemen Transportasi yang menekankan pada isu keselamatan berlalu lintas dan perilaku berkendara, perlu merancang sebuah program penguatan peningkatan kesadaran keselamatan berlalu lintas untuk remaja. Program yang dibingkai dalam bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menyasar target remaja yang sedang bersekolah di area Kabupaten Garut. Disinyalir para remaja yang berumur rata-rata 17 tahun mengabaikan aturan keselamatan berlalu lintas di jalan raya Kabupaten Garut, saat mengendarai kendaraan bermotor khususnya sepeda motor. Aduan pihak sekolah terhadap perilaku berkendara ini merupakan dasar utama dilaksanakan program penguatan kesadaran berlalu lintas ini. Adapun program penguatan kesadaran berlalu lintas ini menggunakan metode ceramah dan praktik. Sedangkan metode pengukuran pemahaman dari para peserta dilakukan dengan pengisian pre-test dan post-test. Dari kedua tes tersebut didapatkan data jawaban peserta yang kemudian diolah menggunakan metode statistika uji nonparametik. Setelah dilakukan program ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesadaran para remaja meningkat dari sisi kesadaran atas lingkungan, kesadaran atas keselamatan bersama, dan keselamatan diri sendiri. Juga pengetahuan remaja terkait marka jalan dan rambu lalu lintas mengalami kenaikan. Dapat diargumentasikan jika program pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap perilaku remaja saat membawa kendaraan bermotor di jalan raya. Namun, dampak positif ini perlu dilakukan monitoring yang berkelanjutan guna menjaga kelestarian pemahaman para remaja.

Abstract
By applying a Transportation Management approach that emphasizes traffic safety issues and driving behavior, we designed a program aimed at strengthening adolescents’ awareness of road safety. This community engagement initiative targets high school students in the Garut Regency area. Evidence suggests that many adolescents, with an average age of 17, tend to disregard traffic safety regulations when operating motor vehicles—particularly motorcycles—on public roads in Garut. Complaints from schools regarding students’ unsafe driving behavior served as the primary basis for implementing this awareness‑building program. The results indicate that the program successfully enhanced adolescents’ awareness in several dimensions: environmental awareness, awareness of collective safety, and awareness of personal safety. Their knowledge of road markings and traffic signs also showed measurable improvement. The program employed a combination of lectures and practical activities, while participants’ understanding was assessed through pre‑tests and post‑tests. The responses from both tests were subsequently analyzed using non‑parametric statistical methods. It can be argued that this community service program has had a significant impact on adolescents’ behavior when operating motor vehicles on public roads. Nevertheless, sustained monitoring is required to ensure the long‑term preservation of these positive outcomes.
