Peran Gereja dalam Menyikapi Kekerasan Terhadap Istri dalam Lingkup Domestik

Abstract


Kekerasan terhadap perempuan dalam konteks pernikahan adalah sebuah persoalan serius dan banyak dijumpai dalam hidup sehari-hari. Tulisan ini bertujuan menyorot persoalan tersebut dari perspektif teologi Kristen sebab kekerasan tersebut juga terjadi dalam konteks keluarga-keluarga Kristen. Kekristenan, dalam hal ini gereja memiliki tanggung jawab guna mengatasi persoalan tersebut. Dengan memanfaatkan studi literatur atas sejumlah tulisan yang membahas problem tersebut, tulisan ini memperlihatkan bahwa kekerasan domestic berdampak negatif terhadap korban. Korban mengalami trauma mendalam, rasa malu, rasa bersalah, dan takut untuk mempercayai orang lain. Kekerasan terhadap istri juga dianggap sebagai fenomena budaya dan dianggap lumrah. Dalam konteks inilah gereja perlu hadir dalam memberikan pelayanan dan pendampingan. Gereja adalah instrument shalom Allah dan perlu menghadirkan pelayanan shalom kepada para istri korban kekerasan rumah tangga sebagai perwujudan dari karya Allah yang merengkuh, menyembuhkan, merawat, menyayangi dan memberdayakan.
