Islam dan Politik Kesehatan Pemerintah Hindia Belanda di Batavia Akhir Abad ke-19

AbstractThis research seeks to explain how about health politics in Batavia and its relation with the Islamic doctrine in Netherlands-Indie at the end of the th-19 century. The historical approach taken in this study aims to reconstruct historical events through the Heuristic (Finding and collecting sources), Criticism (Testing of the content and physical sub-sources), Interpretation (Analyzing and synthesizing sources) and Historiography (interpretation and compilation of facts). so that it becomes a historical writing). The results of the research are; (1) The end of the th-19 century was of historical importance for the development of medical science and medical facilities in the Dutch East Indies, (2) Batavia became an important place for the early development of medical and medical schools, (3) Islamic teachings had a major influence on the views of the doctors, they admit that the teachings of Islam are useful to strengthen their arguments in campaigning for hygiene in colonies.

Abestrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana relasi politik kesehatan di Batavia dan kaitannya dengan doktrin Islam di Hindia Belanda pada akhir abad ke-19. Pendekatan historis yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekontruksi peristiwa sejarah melalui metode Heuristik (Mencari dan mengumpulkan sumber), Kritik (Pengujian terhadap isi dan fisik suber-sumber), Interpretasi (Menganalisis dan mengsintesis sumber) dan Historiografi (penafsiran dan penyusunan fakta-fakta sehingga menjadi sebuah tulisan sejarah). Hasil dari penelitian adalah; (1) Akhir abad ke-19 adalah sejarah penting bagi perkembangan ilmu kedokteran dan pasilitas medis di Hindia Belanda, (2) Batavia menjadi tempat penting bagi perkembangan awal medis dan sekolah-sekolah kedokteran, (3) Ajaran Islam memberikan pengaruh besar terhadap pandangan para dokter, mereka mengakui bahwa ajaran Islam berguna untuk memperkuat argumen mereka dalam mengampanyekan higiene di tanah jajahan.
