Abstrak
           Makalah ini mengkaji tentang pengaruh penyebaran Islam di Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara (Middle East and North Africa) yang merupakan wilayah dengan pemeluk Islam terbesar di dunia. Penelitian ini meneliti perubahan yang dialami oleh suku bangsa mayoritas yang identik dengan kawasan tersebut yaitu bangsa Arab. Sebagai bentuk perbandingan, makalah ini akan memulai kajian dengan gambaran bangsa Arab di masa pra-Islam, lalu dilanjutkan dengan masa ketika Islam lahir yang ditandai dengan diutusnya Rasulullah SAW, dan masa pasca wafatnya Rasulullah. Pemetaan tersebut akan menjawab secara tidak langsung sebab majunya Islam dan sebab mundurnya Islam serta isu sektarian di Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara yang masih menjadi sorotan dunia saat ini.
