Membangun Masyarakat Toleran di Daerah Plural: Pengalaman Masyarakat Muslim dan Kristen di Cianjur, Jawa Barat

Abstract


Artikel ini membahas tentang toleransi masyarakat Muslim dan Kristen di Kampung Palalangon, Kabupaten Cianjur, Jawa Barat. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui wawancara terhadap tokoh-tokoh masyarakat, tokoh agama dan pemuda untuk menggali nilai-nilai yang melandasi kehidupan sosial yang toleran. Selain itu, penulis juga mengobservasi kegiatan-kegiatan yang melibatkan semua warga desa tanpa membeda-bedakan agamanya, terutama di perayaan hari besar nasional dan hari besar keagamaan. Penulis menarik kesimpulan dari bukti-bukti yang ada bahwa toleransi dapat dikembangkan selama ada faktor-faktor tertentu yang mendorongnya. Sebagai contoh, tokoh agama sering kali memegang dan menyebarkan keyakinan yang mendorong toleransi. Kemudian ada contoh yang baik yang diberikan oleh para pemimpin masyarakat untuk mempromosikan hidup berdampingan di lingkungan sekitar. Masyarakat secara keseluruhan juga menerima ketergantungan dan rasa hormat terhadap individu lain karena ingin mencapai kehidupan yang toleran. Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya tentang topik toleransi beragama diperkuat oleh hasil penelitian ini, yang dilakukan di Desa Palalangon, Cianjur, Jawa Barat.
