Abstract

This study aims to examine the levels of *mahabbah* (divine love), *tawakal* (reliance on God), and anxiety, as well as the relationship between *mahabbah* and *tawakal* with anxiety among prospective Hajj pilgrims (regular category) at KBIH Annihayah for the year 2026. The study employs a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The sample consists of 170 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a *mahabbah* scale based on the perspective of Jalaluddin Rumi, a *tawakal* scale, and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, Spearman correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis, facilitated by IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results indicate that the level of *mahabbah* among the prospective Hajj pilgrims at KBIH Annihayah (2026 cohort) falls into the "very high" category (68.2%). The level of *tawakal* also falls into the "very high" category (67.6%), while the level of anxiety is in the "low" category (59.4%). The Spearman correlation analysis reveals a strong positive relationship between *mahabbah* and *tawakal*, with a correlation coefficient of 0.697 (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the multiple linear regression analysis shows that *mahabbah* and *tawakal* are simultaneously and significantly associated with anxiety, with an R² value of 0.172 and a Sig. F value of < 0.001. These findings suggest that strengthening spiritual values—specifically *mahabbah* and *tawakal*—can serve as an approach to support the psychological readiness of prospective Hajj pilgrims ahead of their departure. The originality of this research lies in its application of the concept of *mahabbah* from the perspective of Jalaluddin Rumi and its integration with the concept of *tawakal* to examine anxiety among prospective Hajj pilgrims.
