Pengaruh Self-Control dan Fear of Missing Out (FoMo) terhadap Social Media Addiction TikTok pada Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengaruh self-control dan FOMO terhadap social media addiction TikTok pada mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi. Pendekatan penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif dengan metode survei kausalitas. Sebanyak 187 mahasiswa menjadi responden melalui teknik accidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan mencakup skala Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS; α = 0,876), Fear of Missing Out Scale (FOMOS; α = 0,915), dan Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) TikTok (α = 0,901). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linear berganda, dan hasil menunjukkan nilai Adjusted R Square sebesar 0,771 dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang menandakan bahwa self-control dan FOMO berpengaruh signifikan terhadap social media addiction TikTok. Mahasiswa dengan tingkat self-control rendah dan FOMO tinggi cenderung memiliki kecanduan TikTok yang lebih besar. Penelitian ini memiliki signifikansi teoretis dalam memperkuat pemahaman mengenai peran regulasi diri dan FOMO dalam perilaku adiktif di media sosial. Secara praktis, temuan penelitian ini dapat dijadikan landasan dalam merancang program edukasi literasi digital dan pelatihan pengendalian diri bagi mahasiswa untuk membantu penggunaan media sosial secara lebih sehat dan seimbang.
