Peer Review Policy and Process

Candidate: Jurnal Sains Politik upholds a rigorous peer-review standard to ensure the academic quality, integrity, and credibility of all published research articles. Every submitted manuscript undergoes a thorough review process, beginning with an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team. Book reviews and review articles are also subjected to editorial assessment conducted by the Editor-in-Chief and/or designated Editors prior to publication.

The peer-review process at Candidate generally takes approximately three months to complete and follows these steps:

  • Manuscripts that comply with the journal’s submission guidelines, templates, and review criteria are assigned to expert reviewers for evaluation.

  • Candidate employs a double-blind peer-review system, ensuring that both authors' and reviewers' identities remain confidential throughout the process.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two qualified reviewers, selected by the Editor-in-Chief based on subject expertise and academic competence.

  • Reviewers assess key components of the manuscript, including the title, abstract, introduction, research methodology, findings, and conclusions. They also evaluate the manuscript’s originality, contribution to the field, potential plagiarism risks, and ethical standards in academic publishing.

  • Reviewers provide structured feedback through the journal’s official Review Form, offering clear recommendations: acceptance, rejection, or revision (minor or major).

  • The International Editorial Board supports the Editor-in-Chief by providing expertise, recommendations, and guidance to ensure the highest standards in editorial decisions.

  • The Managing Editor oversees the operational management of the review process, maintaining confidentiality, efficiency, and fairness for authors, reviewers, and editors alike.

  • Based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the Editors decide whether the manuscript should be accepted, rejected, or revised. In certain cases, manuscripts may undergo additional rounds of review.

  • The Editor-in-Chief retains the final authority on all publication decisions, ensuring that only research of outstanding academic quality is published in Candidate: Jurnal Sains Politik.
