Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

VARIA Hukum Writing Guidelines 

The article

  1. Does not contain plagiarism elements and has a maximum similarity index of 25%.
  2. Never and is not being published in another journal.
  3. Written in Indonesian or English (using Microsoft Word, Candara 11, 1.15 spaces, B5 paper size).
  4. Submitted via http://journal.uinsgd.ac.id/index.php/varia/index, or sent via email.

A. The article substance and systematics

Articles published in VARIA Hukum are articles that study a problem related to Law, Sharia (Islamic law) and Society. The elements that must exist in the articles are: 1) title, 2) author's name, institution name, and e-mail address, 3) abstract and keywords, 4) introduction, 5) methodology 6) discussion, 7) closing and conclusions, and 8) Bibliography.

B. Writing style

Papers published in VARIA Hukum have a writing style as followed:

  1. A received article is an article written using the MS-Word program, B5 paper, in 15 to 20 pages, with one point one five (1.15) spaces and using Corbel 11 pt font.
  2. The article title is written specifically and effectively, a maximum of 15 Indonesian words or 12 English words.
  3. The abstract is the essence of the paper, written in one paragraph, using Indonesian and English, and a maximum of 150-250 words.
  4. Keywords consist of 3 to 5 keywords that reflect the concepts written in the paper.
  5. The applied tables and graphs must be accompanied by the source and numbering.
  6. Footnote and a bibliography use VARIA Hukum writing guidelines.
  7. The Indonesian or English language used in Asy-Syari‘ah is good and correct Indonesian or English.

C. Footnote style

The applied footnote system in VARIA HUKUM is the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (Full note) and uses reference management tools Mendeley/Zotero/Endnote).

D. Bibliography

Bibliography in Varia Hukum: Jurnal Forum Studi Hukum dan Kemasyarakatan is arranged alphabetically based on the cited author's last name. The format for writing a bibliography follows the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (Full note).
