AUTHOR GUIDELINES
Author Guidelines
The author guidelines for Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur'anic Studies and Interpretation have changed. The first guideline revisions were implemented from 2016 to 2019, and since 2020, the writing guidelines have followed the latest provisions. Authors can use this guideline to conduct a final review before submitting their manuscript to the journal for review. For further information on publication ethics, please refer to the Author Guidelines section.
Publications in Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur'anic Studies and Interpretation allow authors to retain the copyright of their published articles. This journal operates under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) license, which permits usage, distribution, and reproduction across various media as long as the work is properly cited, is not used for commercial purposes and is not modified or adapted.
Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur'anic Studies and Interpretation is granted an exclusive license for non-commercial reuse by the authors. However, authors are still allowed to upload their articles to personal websites, share them with colleagues, provide them to students, or include them in dissertations, as long as there is no commercial intent or financial gain and the content remains unchanged. - Ensure that all aspects of publication ethics, copyright, authorship, image formatting, data presentation, and reference formatting are adequately considered.

- Authors may include an acknowledgment (optional) in the designated section of our journal's article template.
Publication Type
The Al-Bayan Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Interpretation limits the manuscript length to between 6,000 and 8,000 words, ensuring that the text remains concise and comprehensive. To facilitate replication, experimental details must be presented completely. Journal authors are required to publish all experimental controls and include the complete dataset used in their study. For references to unpublished data, please refer to the guidelines on supplementary materials.
Only original articles are accepted for publication in this journal; other manuscript types, such as review essays or book reviews, are not accepted. Each submitted article must provide an in-depth scientific analysis, focus on Qur'anic studies and interpretation, and offer new perspectives (see the Focus and Scope section). Manuscripts that have been previously published or are under consideration for publication in another journal must not be submitted to this journal.
Manuscript Submission Process
The Open Journal System (OJS) must be used to submit the manuscript because it is entirely online. During the submission and peer-review process, the submitting author serves as the corresponding author who is responsible for submitting the manuscript. Additionally, the corresponding author must ensure that all eligible co-authors are listed in the author list—refer to the authorship criteria—and that they have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript. It's essential to note that authors must register and log in to the submission site before submitting their manuscript. Authors can access the manuscript submission form on the journal site after registering. The registered email address used during the submission process allows the corresponding author to monitor the manuscript's status within the submission system.
Supplementary Materials and Data Storage
Research Data Policy of Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies
Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies is committed to supporting open scientific exchange and assisting authors in implementing best practices and archiving research data. We encourage all authors of articles published in this journal to share their research data. Specific guidelines regarding this can be found in the Author Guidelines and, technically, in the Author Technical Guidelines.
The data-sharing policy includes a minimum dataset that supports the main findings of a published study. The data generated must be publicly available and properly cited by the journal's guidelines. The data policy of Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur'anic and Tafsir Studies is based on the Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) Guidelines, which cover citation standards, data transparency, analytical method transparency (code), research material transparency, study design and analysis transparency, research preregistration, preregistration of analysis plans, and replication policies. For more details, please refer to the TOP Guidelines.
If there are ethical, legal, or privacy concerns, the data should not be shared. Authors must clarify these limitations in the Data Availability Statement included in their article (refer to the instructions at the end of the article). Authors must also ensure that the shared data complies with the consent provided by participants regarding the use of confidential data. Although the Data Availability Statement encourages the inclusion of links to publicly archived datasets used in research, Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies allows authors to confirm the existence of the data used in the study by reference without requiring a direct link.

Supplementary Files
Additional data and documents can be uploaded as "Supplementary Files" during the manuscript submission process. While all file formats are accepted, it is recommended to use standard, non-proprietary formats (i.e., those not dependent on specific software) to ensure broader accessibility and compatibility.
