Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir is committed to maintaining the integrity of all published works. Articles that has been published, it will not be altered or removed from electronic or print platforms. Publication in electronic form is considered the final and complete,  changes will only be made under exceptional circumstances. The final decision regarding publication corrections rests with the Chief of Redaction. Any changes will be communicated and require the author's approval. If authors identify errors in their published work, they must immediately notify the journal for necessary corrections. These corrections must be accompanied by a statement of agreement from all authors. In cases of disagreement, the corresponding author must provide documentation of communication with the dissenting party.

Corrections made by Al-Bayan: Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir fall into four categories: First, errata published to correct errors that occur during the production process and have an impact on the scientific integrity, publication record and reutation of the authors. Second, corrigenda  applied when an author identifies an error in their published article, with the publisher's consideration of its relevance to maintaining scientific accuracy in the article. Third, addenda is corrections as an additional information added that has been through peer review, due to responses to requests for clarification from readers. These corrections must not contradict the original publication but may include significant information that was omitted from the initial publication. Fourth, retraction is a correction made because it is proven to be invalid due to violations of publication ethics, including: plagiarism, data manipulation, or invalid claims of authorship. All authors must agree to the article’s retraction. If the agreement is not reached, the journal still has the right to publish the retraction by stating the differences. Retracted articles will be marked as "Retracted" in the online documents, and in certain cases, articles may be completely removed if they violate the law, contain defamatory content, or pose a significant risk. If there is a publication above, but evidence is not yet available, the editors can publish an Expression of Concern to warn the readers. This notice may later be updated to a retraction or a statement of rehabilitation if convincing evidence emerges.

Publication Ethics for Journal Editors

  2. Content Quality and Corrections: Editors must evaluate the quality of submitted materials and should be willing to issue corrections or clarifications when necessary.
  3. Legal Compliance: Editors must ensure adherence to legal requirements, particularly those related to defamation, intellectual property, and plagiarism.
  4. Fair and Impartial Decision-Making: Editors must maintain fairness and objectivity in their decisions, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or political views.
  5. Confidentiality: Editorial team members must not disclose any information related to submitted articles without the author's explicit consent.
  6. Integrity in Handling Submissions: Editors must promptly return any rejected articles and ensure they are not used for personal purposes.
  7. Guidance for Authors and Reviewers: Editors should provide clear instructions to authors and reviewers regarding expectations and responsibilities in the publication process.

Publication Ethics For Reviewers

Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions on submitted papers/articles

  1. Reviewer is responsible for the review recommendations
  2. Review of paper is done objectively and supported by clear arguments.
  3. A reviewer is responsible for quotes, references, and plagiarism for articles reviewed.
  4. Reviewer keeps the confidentiality of information for personal gain.

The Responsibilities of author

  1. The author must present his or her article of thought or research, honestly, and without plagiarism, and data manipulation.
  2. The author is responsible for the submitted confirmation of the articles that have been written.
  3. The author must comply with the requirements of the publication in the form of originality of the work, not plagiarism, and the paper/article has not been published in other journals or publications.
  4. The author points out the references of the cited opinions and works of others
  5. The author writes the paper or article ethically, honestly and responsibly, by applicable scientific authorship rules.
  6. Authors are prohibited from sending/publishing the same article in more than one journal or publication.
  7. The author does not object if the paper goes through editing without changing the substance or basic idea of writing.

Additionally, the publisher is responsible for maintaining privacy, protecting intellectual property and copyright, and upholding editorial independence.
