History of Journal
Religious: Jurnal Studi Agama-agama dan Lintas Budaya [Journal of Religious and Cross-cultural Studies] was established to advance scholarly research in the fields of religion and socio-cultural studies. It serves as a global academic platform that fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange among scholars, transcending geographical and disciplinary boundaries.
The journal is published by the Department of Religious Studies, Ushuluddin Faculty, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Indonesia, in collaboration with ASAI: Asosiasi Studi Agama Indonesia. It was officially registered with ISSN 2528-7249 (electronic) and ISSN 2528-7230 (print) on 29 August 2016.
Since its inception, Religious has maintained rigorous academic standards, employing a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles. Initially, the journal published two issues per year. However, starting from 2020 (Volume 4), the publication frequency increased to three issues annually—in April, August, and December—to accommodate the growing demand for high-quality research in religious and cross-cultural studies.
To further enhance accessibility and impact, Religious adopted an online-first publication model in 2020, allowing accepted articles to be published immediately upon final acceptance. This strategic move ensures that research findings reach scholars, policymakers, and practitioners more swiftly.
Over the years, Religious: Jurnal Studi Agama-agama dan Lintas Budaya has established itself as a reputable journal, continuously evolving to meet the dynamic challenges of religious and socio-cultural studies while maintaining its commitment to academic excellence.
