Abstract

Tulisan ini menjelaskan tentang Ilmu 'Ilal al-Hadits, yang dike­nalkan oleh Imam Abu Abdullah al-Hakim an-Naisaburiy seba­gai ilmu hadis tersendiri, bukan tentang keshahihan dan keca­ca­tan hadis, ataupun al-Jarh dan at-Ta'dil, tetapi melacak tingkat otentisitas hadis melalui jalan penelusuran periwayatan hadits yang mengandung 'illat. Para ulama' sependapat mengenai urgensi dan posisi ilmu ini. Atas dasar itulah, maka tulisan ini akan memberikan gambaran umum tentang fungsi Ilmu 'Ilal al-Hadits untuk mengukur otentisitas hadis dari karya Abu Abdullah al-Hakim an-Naisaburiy.
