Manuscript Type

The manuscript types accepted by ADLIYA: Jurnal Hukum dan Kemanusiaan reflect the journal’s commitment to balancing doctrinal analysis with empirical research. They include research articles, conceptual and policy reviews, theoretical critiques, and legal innovation.

Manuscript Types

1. Original Research Article

A report of primary research that contributes new findings, data, or analysis in the fields of law and humanity. The approach may be doctrinal/normative (analysis of legal norms, principles, and judicial decisions), empirical socio-legal (examination of legal practice in society through interviews, observation, or document studies), or a combination of both. The structure typically comprises an introduction, methods, results and discussion, and a conclusion.

2. Review Article (Conceptual Review)

A critical examination of concepts, doctrines, or developments in the literature on a particular legal issue, for example, the construction of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah in contemporary family law. This type of article does not report primary data. Instead, it synthesizes, compares, and reorganizes existing scholarship to produce a conceptual framework or a research agenda.

3. Policy Review

An evaluation of legislation, public policy, or specific legal instruments, covering their formulation, implementation, and impact. Articles of this type aim to provide recommendations that policymakers and practitioners can use for legal reform.

4. Theoretical Critique

An argumentative article that tests, challenges, or develops existing legal theories, whether Western legal theory, Islamic legal theory, or theories of legal pluralism. Its strength lies in the rigor of its argument and its original contribution to theoretical debate rather than in field data collection.

5. Case Study / Comparative Study

An in-depth study of one or more legal cases, judicial decisions, or institutional practices, or a comparison across legal systems, jurisdictions, or among positive law, Islamic law, and customary law. This type highlights the lessons that can be drawn from the contexts being compared.
