Da’wah in Local Wisdom of Traditional Malay Poem of Seloko Jambi

Abstract


The study explains da’wah in local wisdom of traditional poem of seloka (seloko, Jambinese) Jambi Malay.  As its arrival to Jambi area, Islam had interacted with indigenous culture. Through pacifique penetration, Islam influenced local society and socio-cultural institutions. Islam used the traditional poem of seloka which is a form of the Malay spoken literature as a medium to spread out the Islamic values and thoughts. Even, Islam became the main source in establishing the Jambi's local culture and wisdom. As a qualitative, the study was conducted by reading and learning main research sources descriptive data which were manuscripts of traditional poem of seloka. Interview to resource persons who were competent on content and value of the poems were take to enhaching interpretation on data. The studi conclusion finds that due dawah in local wisdom there is tightly bound on the relation between Islam and Jambinese Malay Culture; islamic value were modified into traditional law that commonly use seloka. It’s making might be harmonized with Alquran and Sunnah.
