Marital commitment was identified as a crucial factor in sustaining spousal relationships. Gratitude was found to enhance commitment, while assertiveness was considered important in marital interactions. This study aimed to examine the role of assertiveness as a moderator in the relationship between gratitude and marital commitment among Muslim adults. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed, involving 311 Muslim adults aged 30–45 years who had been married for more than five years. Research instruments included culturally adapted scales of gratitude, marital commitment, and assertiveness, all of which demonstrated strong validity and reliability. Regression analysis revealed that gratitude significantly predicted marital commitment (Adjusted R² = 0.429, p < 0.001), and assertiveness also had a significant positive effect (Adjusted R² = 0.195, p < 0.001). However, Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) indicated that assertiveness did not moderate the relationship between gratitude and marital commitment (β = -0.093, p = 0.146). These findings suggested that gratitude and assertiveness independently contribute to marital commitment among Muslim adults.
