Peer Review Process
Every submitted manuscript first goes through an initial editorial screening for fit with the aim and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, and similarity (Turnitin, maximum 25%). Manuscripts that pass are sent to at least two reviewers in a double-blind process: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
Reviewers use the Referee's Appraisal Form to assess:
- correspondence between title, abstract, discussion (findings), and conclusions;
- novelty and scientific impact;
- the quality and relevance of the references used.
Reviewers recommend one of four outcomes: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. Authors of manuscripts that need revision are asked to submit a revised version together with a response to reviewers. If reviewers disagree, the editor may consult a further reviewer.
The typical time from submission to first decision is [8–12 weeks]. All reviews are kept confidential.
