Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Publication in a peer-reviewed journal is a building block of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors' work and of the institutions that support them. Priangan is committed to the ethical standards expected of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, and follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [confirm].
Duties of editors
- The Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor receive submissions and distribute them fairly among the editorial board for initial review.
- Decisions are based solely on the quality of the article and the outcome of double-blind peer review, without regard to the author's religion, ethnic origin, nationality, race, or gender.
- Editors keep submitted manuscripts confidential and disclose information only to the author, or to other editors involved with the knowledge of the Editor-in-Chief.
- Rejected manuscripts are returned to authors and are not used by editors for any purpose.
- The Editor-in-Chief sets deadlines for publication-ready articles and leads at least one editorial board meeting per issue.
Duties of reviewers
- Reviewers help the editors reach decisions and help authors improve their work.
- Reviewers who feel unqualified, or who cannot review promptly, must notify the editor and withdraw.
- Manuscripts are confidential; reviews go through the editor, not directly to authors.
- Reviews must be objective, with clear supporting arguments and no personal criticism.
- Reviewers should point out relevant uncited work and any substantial overlap with other publications.
- Reviewers must declare conflicts of interest and must not use privileged information for personal advantage.
Duties of authors
- Submit original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and present accurate data.
- Cite all sources honestly, including published works and personal interviews.
- Check originality with plagiarism-detection software before submission.
- Retain raw data for a reasonable time after publication and provide it on editorial request.
- Conduct research ethically and in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Disclose financial support and any conflicts of interest.
- Limit authorship to those who made significant contributions; acknowledge other contributors. The corresponding author ensures all co-authors approve the final version.
- Promptly notify the editor of significant errors in published work and cooperate in correction or retraction.
Duties of the publisher
The Department of Islamic Civilization History, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, as publisher, protects editorial independence, privacy, intellectual property, and copyright. It works with the editors to review journal policies periodically, investigate suspected misconduct, publish corrections, clarifications, and retractions, and publish content on time.
