Abstract

Global and local ecological crises demand a transformation in religiosity from mere ritual piety to holistic ecological piety. This study aims to reconstruct the ontological relationship between God, Human, and Nature and transmute it into environmental praxis through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach at the Al-Faaruuq Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren), Cicalengka. Utilizing a qualitative-transformative paradigm with the 5-D Appreciative Inquiry cycle (Discovery, Dream, Design, Define, Destiny), this research yields three primary findings. First, an ontological reconstruction fundamentally shifted the anthropocentric bias towards an ecocentric awareness grounded in the values of tauhid (monotheism), khilafah (stewardship), and amanah (trust). Second, the ABCD mapping successfully mobilized theological assets (fiqh doctrines) and social assets (the authority of the kiai and the cohesion of the santri) to build communal ecological independence, replacing the elitist deficit-based paradigm. Third, the 5-D cycle effectively bridged normative theological discourse into participatory institutional governance through co-production mechanisms. This study concludes that the interdisciplinary synergy between Islamic ecotheology and asset methodology can transform pesantren from resource-consuming entities into producers of civilizational conservation values
