Post-Publication Discussion

KUBIK: Jurnal Publikasi Ilmiah Matematika is committed to promoting open scientific communication, constructive academic discussion, and the continuous evaluation of published research. The journal recognizes that scholarly evaluation does not end with publication and encourages readers, researchers, and academic communities to engage in responsible post-publication discussions.

Post-publication discussions provide opportunities to clarify research findings, evaluate methodologies, identify potential errors, and contribute to the advancement of mathematical knowledge.

This policy applies to all articles published in KUBIK and is implemented in accordance with relevant guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Objectives of Post-Publication Discussion

KUBIK supports post-publication discussions to:

  1. Encourage constructive academic dialogue concerning published research.

  2. Promote transparency, accuracy, and reproducibility in mathematical research.

  3. Provide opportunities for scientific clarification and methodological evaluation.

  4. Identify and address potential errors or limitations in published articles.

  5. Maintain the reliability and integrity of the scholarly record.

Discussions must be conducted professionally, respectfully, and based on scientific evidence.

2. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion

KUBIK facilitates post-publication discussions through the following mechanisms:

a. Letters to the Editor

Readers and researchers may submit letters addressing methodological issues, mathematical arguments, research findings, or other relevant aspects of published articles.

b. Scientific Comments and Critiques

Constructive comments may address mathematical proofs, computational methods, statistical analyses, numerical simulations, theoretical assumptions, or interpretations of research results.

c. Author Responses

Authors of the original publications may be invited to respond to comments, criticisms, or requests for clarification concerning their published research.

d. Corrections and Clarifications

When significant errors or ambiguities are identified, the journal may request clarification or publish appropriate corrections to ensure the accuracy of the scientific record.

3. Submission of Post-Publication Comments

Readers, researchers, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments through the journal's official editorial contact.

Submissions should include:

  • The title, authors, and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.

  • A clear explanation of the scientific issue or concern.

  • Relevant mathematical arguments, evidence, references, or supporting documentation.

  • The name and contact information of the individual submitting the comment.

Comments should focus on scientific content rather than personal criticism.

The journal reserves the right to decline comments containing unsupported allegations, offensive language, defamatory statements, or material unrelated to the published research.

4. Editorial Evaluation of Comments

All submitted comments will be evaluated by the editorial team to determine their scientific relevance, validity, and suitability for further consideration.

The editorial evaluation may include:

  1. Assessing the relevance and clarity of the submitted comments.

  2. Examining the mathematical or scientific evidence provided.

  3. Consulting independent experts or reviewers when necessary.

  4. Inviting the original authors to provide a response.

  5. Determining whether the discussion requires publication, clarification, correction, or further editorial action.

The editorial team will ensure that all discussions are handled objectively and fairly.

5. Authors' Right to Respond

Authors whose articles are the subject of post-publication discussions will generally be given an opportunity to respond to substantive scientific comments or criticisms.

Author responses should:

  • Address the scientific concerns raised.

  • Provide appropriate mathematical explanations or supporting evidence.

  • Clarify assumptions, methods, results, or conclusions when necessary.

  • Maintain a respectful and professional academic tone.

Where appropriate, accepted comments and author responses may be published or made accessible through the journal's website.

6. Corrections and Updates to Published Articles

When errors are identified after publication, KUBIK will assess their significance and determine the appropriate editorial action.

Possible actions include:

a. Correction

A correction may be published when an error affects part of an article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.

b. Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern may be issued when credible concerns arise regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article and further investigation is required or available evidence remains inconclusive.

c. Retraction

A published article may be retracted when its findings are determined to be unreliable due to major errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, or other serious violations of publication ethics.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and retractions will be handled according to the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidelines.

7. Transparency and Documentation

KUBIK is committed to maintaining transparent records of significant post-publication discussions and editorial actions.

When a formal post-publication notice is issued, the journal will seek to ensure that:

  1. The notice clearly identifies the article concerned.

  2. The reason for the correction, concern, or retraction is explained.

  3. The notice is linked to the original publication wherever technically feasible.

  4. Relevant publication information remains accessible to readers.

  5. Changes to the scholarly record are documented transparently.

Published articles will not be silently altered to conceal significant errors or ethical concerns.

8. Ethical Standards in Post-Publication Discussion

All individuals participating in post-publication discussions are expected to uphold academic integrity and professional standards.

Comments and responses must be evidence-based, objective, and respectful.

Personal attacks, harassment, unsupported accusations, and deliberate misrepresentation of research findings are not permitted.

Potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed when relevant.

Allegations of research misconduct identified through post-publication discussions will be handled under the journal's Allegations of Research Misconduct policy.

9. Compliance with COPE Guidelines

KUBIK follows relevant recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning post-publication discussions, corrections, Expressions of Concern, and retractions.

The journal acknowledges that constructive scientific discussion and transparent editorial action are essential for maintaining public confidence in published research.
