Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Ta’lim al-‘Arabiyyah: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab dan Kebahasaaraban is a peer-reviewed and open-access academic journal published both online and in print. The primary objective of the journal is to disseminate scientific knowledge and foster scholarly discussion within the interdisciplinary fields of Arabic language education, pedagogy, linguistics, and Arabic studies. Through the publication of high-quality and ethically produced research, this journal contributes to the advancement of Arabic language learning and teaching at both national and international levels.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process—namely, the author(s), editor(s)-in-chief, editorial board, peer reviewers, and publisher. The journal follows the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), particularly its Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Reviewers.


Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in Ta’lim al-‘Arabiyyah serves as a fundamental building block in developing a coherent and credible body of knowledge in the field of Arabic language education and linguistics. Each published article represents the intellectual quality and integrity of the author(s) and their supporting institutions. Therefore, all parties are expected to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards to maintain the journal’s credibility and scientific reputation.

The editorial team of Ta’lim al-‘Arabiyyah is committed to ensuring that commercial or institutional interests do not influence editorial decisions. Furthermore, the publisher and editorial board will assist in addressing ethical issues and maintaining integrity throughout the publication process in cooperation with other journals or relevant authorities when necessary.


Plagiarism Policy

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original and that all sources are properly cited. The use of another author’s words, data, or ideas without proper attribution constitutes plagiarism and is strictly prohibited.
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin software, with a maximum allowable similarity index of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be automatically rejected. If plagiarism or academic misconduct is detected after publication, the article will be corrected or retracted according to COPE guidelines.


Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication based on the recommendations of reviewers and the journal’s editorial policies. The decision is guided by the manuscript’s significance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope. Legal requirements regarding copyright, defamation, and plagiarism are also taken into consideration.


Duties of Editors

  • Responsibilities: Editors hold a critical role in overseeing the entire editorial and peer-review process and must make decisions based solely on the academic merit of each submission.

  • Fair Evaluation: Manuscripts are evaluated objectively without regard to the author’s race, gender, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political views.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to unauthorized individuals.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors may not use unpublished materials for personal research without the author’s consent and must avoid handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

  • Integrity and Transparency: Editors must promote academic integrity, correct errors when identified, and issue retractions or corrections when necessary.


Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer reviewers assist the editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and may not be shared or discussed with others without permission.

  • Objectivity and Fairness: Reviews must be conducted objectively and provide clear, evidence-based feedback without personal bias.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must identify any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and alert the editor to any potential plagiarism or overlap with other publications.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have personal, financial, or professional conflicts of interest.


Duties of Authors

  • Research Integrity: Authors must present accurate data and objective discussions. Falsification, fabrication, or manipulation of data is unethical and unacceptable.

  • Data Access: Authors should retain raw data related to their research and be prepared to provide it upon request for verification purposes.

  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.

  • Multiple Publications: Authors should not submit the same work to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: All sources must be properly cited. Authors must give credit to those who have significantly contributed to the research.

  • Authorship: Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that may affect their research.

  • Error Correction: Authors must promptly notify the editor if they discover significant errors in their published work to allow retraction or correction.


Duties of the Publisher

The publisher of Ta’lim al-‘Arabiyyah—together with the editorial board—is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. In cases of alleged or proven academic misconduct, plagiarism, or unethical behavior, the publisher will take appropriate actions, including issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions. The publisher ensures the permanent availability and digital preservation of all published
