Jurnal Al-Khidmat, with registered number ISSN 2623-2006(print), ISSN 2654-4431 (online) is a scientific multidisciplinary journal published by Pusat Pengabdian LPPM of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. It is at the national level that covers many common problems or issues related to community services. This journal publication aims to disseminate the conceptual thoughts or ideas and research results that have been achieved in the area of community services.

A Khidmat is a bi-annual refereed journal which draws on research concerned with the practice and processes of community engagement. The journal aims to provide a forum as well as a publishing platform for academics, practitioners and community representatives to explore issues and reflect on practices related to engagement activities. This journal is a peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality research focused on conceptual frameworks, theories, implementation, practices, and policies related to community engagement.


Al-Khidmat Journal integrates teaching, research, and community engagement in all disciplines, addressing critical problems identified through a community-participatory process.

Please read these guidelines carefully. Authors who want to submit their manuscripts to the editorial office of Al Khidmat should obey the writing guidelines. If the manuscript submitted is not appropriate with the guidelines or written in a different format, it will BE REJECTED by the editors before further review. FOCUS AND SCOPE

Al-Khidmat: Journal of Community Engagement is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes high-quality articles on the implementation, innovation, and evaluation of community service and community engagement programs conducted by academics, practitioners, researchers, and students. The journal aims to disseminate knowledge, models, and best practices that contribute to community empowerment, sustainable development, and the application of science and technology for societal benefit.

The journal particularly emphasizes participatory, empowerment-based, and evidence-based community service programs that demonstrate measurable outcomes and sustainable impact. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are expected to clearly describe the community engagement methods used in the program implementation.

Al-Khidmat prioritizes community service activities that apply recognized community engagement methodologies, including but not limited to:

  • Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)

  • Participatory Action Research (PAR)

  • Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)

  • Service Learning

  • Community-Based Research (CBR)

  • Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)

  • Action Research for Community Development

  • Other participatory and empowerment-based community development approaches.

The journal welcomes manuscripts addressing community service practices in the following thematic areas:

  1. Education for Sustainable Development and community-based education programs

  2. Public health promotion, nutrition, sanitation, and community health services

  3. Local food security and sustainable community livelihoods

  4. Community empowerment and social inclusion, including gender and marginalized communities

  5. Entrepreneurship development, MSMEs empowerment, and community-based economic development

  6. Community training, mentoring, and capacity-building programs

  7. Appropriate technology and technological innovation for communities

  8. Design innovation and digital technology for community empowerment

  9. Student community service programs and university-community partnerships

  10. Community development in rural areas, border regions, and less developed regions

  11. Village community development and rural transformation

  12. Village governance, public policy, and institutional strengthening at the local level

  13. Environmental sustainability and community-based resource management

  14. Interdisciplinary approaches in community service and social innovation

The journal prioritizes manuscripts that present:

  • Clear and systematic implementation of community engagement methods

  • Active participation and empowerment of community members

  • Measurable outcomes and documented impacts on the community

  • Sustainability and potential replication of community service models

  • Integration of academic knowledge with practical community solutions

Through these contributions, Al-Khidmat: Journal of Community Engagement seeks to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in community empowerment, social innovation, and sustainable societal development.
