Edukasi Bahaya Penggunaan Rokok Konvensional dan Elektrik pada Remaja di SMP Negeri 7 Palu

Abstrak Data dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) menunjukkan peningkatan prevalensi merokok di kalangan remaja usia 15-19 tahun sebesar 3,4% antara tahun 2022 dan 2023. Selain itu, sebanyak 28,28% penduduk Sulawesi Tengah yang berusia ≥ 15 tahun tercatat sebagai perokok pada tahun 2023. Tujuan pengabdian ini agar remaja lebih sadar akan bahaya merokok dan dapat menjauhi kebiasaan tersebut. Metode pengabdian ini dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi 2 arah, sedangkan pengukuran keberhasilan program ini dengan pre-post design, yaitu diberikan pre-test sebelum diberikan intervensi edukasi, dan diberikan post-test setelahnya. Ceramah yang dilakukan menggunakan perangkat lunak PowerPoint dibantu dengan LCD proyektor yang dipantulkan ke dinding dan juga media poster sederhana untuk menyampaikan pesan singkat dan menarik perhatian. Responden adalah peserta yang dipilih oleh Kepala SMP Negeri 7 Palu yang memiliki riwayat merokok. Secara demografi, responden didominasi oleh laki-laki yang berada di kelas IX, pertama kali merokok sejak di Sekolah Dasar, ditawarkan oleh teman dari luar sekolah, dan dengan alasan ingin tahu rasa merokok. Terjadi kenaikan pengetahuan dalam kategori baik dimana pre-test hanya 10,91% menjadi 87,27% pada post-test. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini terkendala pada ruang mushola yang tidak cukup luas serta responden yang cukup banyak di luar asumsi tim pengabdi. Dapat disimpulkan pemberian edukasi bahaya merokok memberikan dampak pengetahuan yang lebih baik bagi sebagian siswa dengan riwayat merokok. Abstract Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) showed an increase in the prevalence of smoking among teenagers aged 15-19 years by 3.4% between 2022 and 2023. Additionally, 28.28% of residents in Central Sulawesi aged ≥15 years were recorded as smokers in 2023. The aim of this program was to raise teenagers' awareness of the dangers of smoking and help them avoid this habit.This program used a lecture and two-way discussion method. The program's success was measured using a pre-post design, where a pre-test was conducted before the educational intervention, followed by a post-test afterward. The lecture was delivered using PowerPoint slides projected onto a wall with the help of an LCD projector, and simple posters were used as visual aids to convey short and engaging messages. The participants were selected by the Principal of SMP Negeri 7 Palu, focusing on students with a history of smoking. Demographically, most respondents were male, in the ninth grade, had started smoking in elementary school, were introduced to smoking by friends outside school, and cited curiosity as the main reason for trying cigarettes. There was an improvement in knowledge categorized as "good," with pre-test scores at 10.91% increasing to 87.27% in the post-test. However, the program faced challenges, such as the limited space in the mosque room and a higher-than-expected number of participants. In conclusion, educating students about the dangers of smoking significantly improved the knowledge of many students with a smoking history.References
