FOCUS AND SCOPE – HIJAI JOURNAL

HIJAI: Journal on Arabic Language and Literature (E-ISSN: 2621-1343) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, original empirical research and theoretical studies in the fields of Arabic Linguistics, Arabic Literature, Arabic Cultural Studies, and Arabic Language Education.

Focus

The main focus of HIJAI is to provide an international forum for scholars, researchers, and academicians to disseminate scientific developments, innovative paradigms, and critical analyses concerning the structural, functional, literary, socio-cultural, and educational aspects of the Arabic language. The journal prioritizes manuscripts that demonstrate strong scientific novelty, sound methodologies, and visual data representation.

Scope

HIJAI welcomes original manuscripts written in English, Arabic, or Indonesian (with mandatory English Title, Abstract, and Keywords on the first page) that fall within, but are not limited to, the following sub-themes:

1. Applied & Theoretical Arabic Linguistics (اللغويات العربية)

  • Theoretical Linguistics: Phonology (علم الأصوات), Morphology (علم الصرف), Syntax (علم النحو), and Semantics (علم الدلالة).
  • Pragmatics & Discourse Analysis: Speech Acts, Pragmatic Markers, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), and Text Linguistics.
  • Sociolinguistics & Dialectology: Diglossia, Language Variation, Arabic Dialects (العاميات), Language Attitudes, and Code-Switching/Code-Mixing.

  • Arabic Rhetoric & Stylistics: Balaghah (المعاني، البيان، البديع), Arabic Poetics, Structuralism, and Stylistic Analysis.
  • Literary Criticism & Theory: Classical Criticism (النقدي القديم), Postmodernism, Comparative Literature (الأدب المقارن), Postcolonialism, and Feminism in Arabic Literature.
  • Genre Studies: Classical/Modern Poetry (الشعر العربي), Arabic Novels, Short Stories (القصة القصيرة), Drama, and Travelogues (أدب الرحلات).
