Meninjau Ulang Komodifikasi Agama: Peran Fungsional di Balik Komersialisasi Dakwah Islam Hanan Attaki

Abstrak
Artikel ini membahas komodifikasi agama yang telah banyak dikaji oleh para peneliti dengan kesimpulan umum bahwa komodifikasi agama dipandang sebagai sesuatu yang negatif. Komodifikasi ini dianggap telah mengubah fungsi agama dari sesuatu yang sakral menjadi sekadar komoditas yang diperdagangkan demi keuntungan material. Namun, pandangan tersebut cenderung mengabaikan aspek lain dari komodifikasi agama yang justru memiliki fungsi bagi agama itu sendiri. Dengan mengkaji komodifikasi agama dalam ceramah keagamaan oleh Hanan Attaki, kami secara kritis mengevaluasi tesis negatif tersebut. Komodifikasi agama, pada kenyataannya, dapat mereformulasi agama agar lebih menarik, menjangkau jamaah yang lebih luas, menjadi lebih praktis, serta mampu mengakomodasi nilai-nilai sosial generasi masa kini. Alih-alih mereduksi agama, komodifikasi agama dalam ceramah keagamaan justru memberikan dimensi fungsional dengan menyesuaikannya dengan tuntutan beragama di tengah perubahan masyarakat.
