Journal History

JISPO was established in 2013 to provide an open, peer-reviewed forum for scholarship on Indonesia’s social and political life. The journal received its first national accreditation as SINTA 5 in 2017. In November 2019, JISPO came under the management of the Centre for Asian Social Science Research (CASSR), FISIP UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, which initiated editorial reforms—strengthening the double-blind review process, renewing the editorial board, standardizing workflows and ethics policies, and expanding digital discoverability. These improvements contributed to an upgrade to SINTA 3 accreditation in 2020. Building on this trajectory, JISPO is now consolidating quality assurance, internationalization, and indexing readiness as it prepares an application for SINTA 2 in 2026.
