Correction and Retraction

JISPO is committed to preserving the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the scholarly record. Post-publication changes are made only under clearly defined circumstances and in line with best practices in academic publishing and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidance.

Erratum (Author Correction)
An erratum is a brief author statement describing corrections to errors or omissions in the published article and, where relevant, noting any impact on the conclusions. The original article remains online; an Erratum notice is published, freely accessible, and hyperlinked to the corrected version.

Retraction
A retraction indicates that an article should no longer be regarded as part of the scholarly literature. Retractions are issued when there is clear evidence of unreliable findings (whether due to misconduct or honest error), prior redundant publication without proper acknowledgment, plagiarism, or unethical research. To protect the scholarly record, the retracted article is not removed; instead, a freely accessible Retraction notice is published and linked to the original article. Retractions may be initiated by the authors, the editors, or the publisher; the notice states the reasons for retraction and who made the decision. If unanimity among authors is not achieved, this is indicated. In rare, legally sensitive situations, JISPO may redact or remove content; in such cases, bibliographic information is retained.

Publisher’s Note (Production Correction)
A Publisher’s Note alerts readers to corrections made after publication when publisher-side typographical or production errors affect the integrity of article metadata (e.g., title, author list, byline) or materially hinder comprehension. In these cases, the original file may be replaced with a corrected version, and the date of correction is recorded. Minor issues that do not affect understanding or metadata integrity may be corrected at the publisher’s discretion without a formal notice.

Versioning and Timing
Replacement of an original article file with a corrected version is generally limited to articles published within the previous 12 months; for older articles, corrections are documented via a Publisher’s Note. All correction and retraction notices are open access and permanently linked to the article. JISPO follows relevant COPE flowcharts and recommendations when determining the most appropriate corrective action.
