Focus and Scope

JISPO publishes original, peer-reviewed research that advances social and political scholarship with primary focus on Indonesian contexts and their regional/global implications. We welcome qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies that are theoretically informed and empirically grounded, especially those offering clear contributions to scholarship and policy.

The journal welcomes work that contributes clear scholarly and policy-relevant insights across—but not limited to—sociology and social development; politics, governance, and democracy; public policy and public administration; citizenship and civic engagement; religion and politics and the sociology of religion; radicalism, extremism, and terrorism; and gender, intersectionality, and social inequalities. JISPO primarily publishes original research articles and may consider research notes, review essays, or policy commentaries when they offer substantive scholarly value.
