Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original and high-quality manuscripts that align with the focus and scope of the Journal of Islamic Economics and Business (JIEB). Submitted manuscripts must demonstrate clear scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, and relevance to contemporary issues in Islamic economics, finance, business, and related fields.

General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to JIEB must:

  • be original and have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal;
  • be written in clear and academically appropriate English;
  • demonstrate a clear research problem, scholarly contribution, and relevance to the journal’s scope;
  • follow the JIEB manuscript template and referencing style;
  • properly acknowledge all sources and comply with academic and publication ethics; and
  • be submitted through the JIEB online submission system.

Manuscript Structure

Research articles should generally include the following sections:

Title
The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the main focus of the study.

Abstract
The abstract should briefly present the research background or purpose, methodology, key findings, and main contribution or implications of the study. The abstract should be accompanied by 3–5 relevant keywords.

Introduction
The introduction should clearly establish the research context, problem, relevant literature, research gap, novelty or contribution, and objectives of the study.

Literature Review and/or Hypothesis Development
This section should provide a critical engagement with relevant literature and establish the theoretical or conceptual foundation of the study. Where applicable, hypotheses or research propositions should be logically developed.

Methodology
The methodology should provide sufficient information regarding the research design, data and sources, population and sample, variable measurement or research instruments, analytical procedures, and other relevant methodological considerations to ensure transparency and replicability.

Results and Discussion
Results should be presented clearly and systematically. The discussion should interpret the findings rather than merely restate them and should relate the results to relevant theories, previous studies, research context, and the scholarly contribution of the study.

Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the main findings and emphasize their theoretical, practical, managerial, or policy implications. Research limitations and directions for future research should be presented where appropriate.

References
References should primarily consist of relevant and credible scholarly sources. Authors are encouraged to engage with recent international literature and primary academic sources relevant to the research topic.

Manuscript Formatting

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the official JIEB Manuscript Template. Tables and figures should be clearly presented, appropriately numbered, and referred to within the text.

The manuscript should maintain consistency in terminology, abbreviations, mathematical notation, tables, figures, and citation format throughout the article.

References and Citation

JIEB uses APA Style for citations and references. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy.

All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all entries in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.

Research Quality and Originality

JIEB prioritizes manuscripts that provide a clear theoretical, empirical, methodological, or policy contribution. Predominantly descriptive manuscripts, merely replicate established models without sufficient contextual or theoretical contribution, or lack methodological rigor may not proceed to external peer review.

Ethical and Publication Standards

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality and integrity of their work. Manuscripts must comply with JIEB’s policies concerning publication ethics, plagiarism, authorship, conflicts of interest, and research integrity.

Where applicable, authors should disclose funding sources, potential conflicts of interest, ethical approval, and the use of data involving human participants.

Submission and Peer Review

All manuscripts must be submitted through the JIEB online submission system. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its suitability for the journal.

Manuscripts that meet the journal’s editorial standards will proceed to a double-blind peer-review process. Submission does not guarantee publication, and the final publication decision rests with the editorial team based on scholarly quality, reviewers’ recommendations, and the manuscript’s contribution to the scope of JIEB.
