Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan Agama Islam (JIPAI) adopts the authorship principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship credit must reflect real intellectual contribution.

Who qualifies as an author. A person is listed as an author only if all four of the following conditions are met:

  1. Substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions about its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Acknowledgements. Contributors who do not meet all four criteria (for example, those who provided only technical help, language editing, general supervision, or funding) must be named in the Acknowledgements section, with their permission.

Corresponding author. One author is designated as corresponding author. This person handles all communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and publication, ensures that all co-authors have seen and approved the final manuscript, and ensures that all required declarations (originality, conflict of interest, funding, ethical approval) are complete.

Author order and affiliations. The order of authors is decided by the authors themselves and must be agreed upon before submission. As stated in the Author Guidelines, each author must provide their full name (without academic titles or positions), institutional affiliation and address, and a valid email address. An ORCID iD is strongly encouraged.

Author contributions. Authors are encouraged to include an Author Contributions statement using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) categories.

Changes to authorship. Adding, removing, or reordering authors is only allowed before acceptance and requires a written request from the corresponding author that states the reason and is signed or confirmed by email by all authors, including the author being added or removed. After publication, changes are handled through the journal's correction procedure.

Unacceptable practices. Ghost authorship (omitting someone who qualifies), gift or guest authorship (listing someone who did not contribute), and authorship sold or traded for payment are considered misconduct and are handled under the journal's research misconduct procedure.

Use of AI tools. AI tools (including large language models) cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work. Authors who use AI tools for language improvement or other assistance must disclose the tool and its purpose in the Methods or Acknowledgements section, and remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and originality of the manuscript.
