Handling Allegations of Research Misconduct

JIPAI takes allegations of research misconduct seriously, whether they concern a submitted or a published article, and follows the COPE flowcharts and guidance.

What is covered. Fabrication or falsification of data, plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, authorship manipulation, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, and unethical treatment of research participants.

Who may report. Anyone (readers, reviewers, editors, authors, or institutions) may raise a concern by email to jipai@uinsgd.ac.id or through the Contact page. Reports should contain as much evidence as possible. Anonymous reports are considered if they are specific and supported by evidence.

Procedure

  1. Receipt and screening. The Editor-in-Chief acknowledges the report within ISI: 7 days and decides whether it falls under the journal's scope. All reports are handled confidentially.
  2. Preliminary assessment. The editor collects the relevant records (manuscript versions, review reports, similarity report, data).
  3. Author response. The corresponding author is informed and given ISI: 14–30 days to respond with an explanation and supporting data.
  4. Further investigation. If the matter is not resolved, the editor consults the Editorial Board or independent experts and, where needed, asks the authors' institution or research ethics committee to investigate.
  5. Decision. Depending on findings, possible outcomes are: no action, a correction, an Expression of Concern, retraction of the article, a notice to the authors' institution or funder, and a ban on future submissions for a defined period.
  6. Record keeping. All cases and decisions are documented.

Fairness and protection. Accused persons are presumed innocent until the investigation is complete. Persons who report in good faith are protected from retaliation. Editors and reviewers with a conflict of interest in a case are excluded from handling it.
