Authorship Criteria

ISEMA: Islamic Educational Management follows the international standards for authorship to ensure that credit is appropriately assigned and that all authors take public responsibility for their published work. Our policy is aligned with the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

To be listed as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions: Made significant contributions to the conception or design of the research; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

  2. Drafting and Revision: Drafted the manuscript or critically revised it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Provided final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Additional Authorship Policies:

  • Corresponding Author: One author must be designated as the Corresponding Author. This individual acts as the primary contact during the submission, peer-review, and publication process. The Corresponding Author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before submission.

  • Acknowledgments: Contributors who meet fewer than all four of the above criteria (e.g., individuals who provided purely technical help, writing assistance, general supervision, or funding acquisition) should not be listed as authors. Instead, their contributions must be properly recognized in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript.

  • Changes to Authorship: Any addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names after the initial submission must be officially requested by the Corresponding Author and accompanied by a signed letter of consent from all original authors justifying the change.
