Correction and Retraction

ISEMA: Islamic Educational Management is committed to maintaining the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record. We recognize that occasionally, errors may occur in published articles or, in extreme cases, ethical violations may be discovered post-publication. In such instances, the journal will take appropriate actions in accordance with the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections (Erratum / Corrigendum) A correction will be issued if a significant error is discovered in a published article that affects the scientific accuracy, the publication record, or the reputation of the authors, but does not completely invalidate the research findings.

  • Erratum: Issued when the error is introduced by the journal or publisher during the editing or production process (e.g., layout errors, missing figures).

  • Corrigendum: Issued when the error is made by the author(s) (e.g., errors in author names, affiliations, or minor miscalculations). Corrections are published as a separate document that links to the original article, and the original article will be updated with a note indicating that a correction has been made.

2. Retractions Retraction is a mechanism for correcting the literature and alerting readers to publications that contain seriously flawed or erroneous data, ensuring that readers do not rely on invalid conclusions. An article may be retracted if:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of major errors (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error) or fabrication/falsification of data.

  • It constitutes plagiarism or contains substantial elements of previously published work without proper attribution (duplicate publication).

  • The research reports unethical practices or violates professional ethical codes.

  • The authorship is severely compromised (e.g., a fictitious author or unauthorized use of data).

The Retraction Process: When a retraction is deemed necessary, ISEMA will issue a formal Retraction Notice. The process includes:

  • The Retraction Notice will be published and linked directly to the original article.

  • The original article will remain available on the journal’s website to maintain the digital record, but it will be clearly watermarked as "RETRACTED" across all pages of the PDF.

  • The notice will clearly state the reasons for the retraction and who requested it (e.g., the authors, the institution, or the Editorial Board).

3. Article Removal In very rare circumstances, it may be necessary to completely remove an article from the online database. This will only occur if the article is clearly defamatory, infringes on legal rights, violates privacy, or if leaving the article online poses a serious health or safety risk. In such cases, the metadata (title and authors) will be retained, and the text will be replaced with a notice explaining why the article was removed.
