AI Use Policy
Responsible Use of AI by Authors
al Kimiya: Jurnal Ilmu Kimia dan Terapan recognizes that AI-assisted tools may support scholarly writing, coding, analysis, or other research activities. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, reproducibility, appropriate citation, and ethical compliance of their submissions.
AI tools must not be named as authors. Authors must not present fabricated datasets, spectra, micrographs, chromatograms, NMR signals, references, or experimental outcomes as genuine observations. AI-generated or altered figures must not misrepresent measured data. Routine adjustments to scientific images must preserve the underlying evidence and be explained when scientifically relevant.
Disclosure Requirement
Authors must disclose substantive generative-AI use in a dedicated statement at submission, identifying the tool/provider (and version where known), the purpose of use, the manuscript sections or research stages affected, and the steps taken to verify outputs. AI-assisted analysis, coding, translation with substantive rewriting, interpretation, or image generation require particular transparency. Routine spelling and grammar correction that does not generate scientific content need not be reported unless the journal specifically requests it.
Suggested declaration—AI used: “During preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [tool, provider, version if available] for [specific purpose]. All generated or assisted content was critically reviewed and verified by the authors, who take full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the work.”
Suggested declaration—no substantive AI use: “The authors declare that no generative artificial intelligence tools were used to produce scientific content for this manuscript.”
AI Use by Editors and Reviewers
Submitted manuscripts, associated research data, and confidential reviewer reports must not be entered into public or third-party AI systems without explicit authorization and suitable confidentiality, intellectual-property, and data-protection safeguards. AI may assist administrative tasks only when used under authorized institutional arrangements; it must not replace independent editorial judgment or professional peer review.
Undisclosed or misleading AI use may prompt clarification, revision, editorial rejection, or post-publication action, depending on its effect on research integrity.
