Manuscript Types

Types of Manuscripts

al Kimiya: Jurnal Ilmu Kimia dan Terapan welcomes scientifically sound manuscripts within its stated aims and scope. The journal primarily considers original investigations in pure chemistry and applied chemistry, including research relevant to sustainable materials, food security, renewable energy, environmental protection, and responsible use of natural resources.

1. Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles report previously unpublished experimental, theoretical, computational, or interdisciplinary research that provides a clear contribution to chemical science. The manuscript should present a defined research question, appropriate methodology, sufficient analytical or characterization data, rigorous discussion, and defensible conclusions. Where relevant, authors should describe controls, instrument settings, calibration, uncertainty, replicates, and appropriate statistical analysis.

2. Short Communications

Short Communications present concise but complete findings of sufficient originality and significance to warrant timely communication. They must include adequate methods, essential data, meaningful interpretation, and relevant references. Preliminary observations without sufficient supporting evidence, promotional descriptions of products, and extended abstracts are not considered complete research manuscripts.

3. Review Articles — Subject to Editorial Approval

Scholarly review manuscripts may be considered when they offer a critical, balanced, and clearly structured synthesis of a well-defined chemistry topic. Prospective review authors should first contact the editorial office to confirm that the article type is currently accepted, and that the proposed topic fits the journal's editorial plan. A review should explain the literature search or selection approach and distinguish established evidence from interpretation.

4. Conference-Related Manuscripts

Expanded papers arising from scientific conferences may be considered only when permitted under the applicable conference and journal arrangements. Every manuscript must meet the journal's originality, disclosure, copyright, research ethics, and independent editorial requirements. Authors must disclose prior abstract or proceedings publication and explain the substantial new contribution. Conference participation does not guarantee publication.

General Manuscript Requirements

  • The work must fit the journal's aims and scope and must not be under consideration at another journal.
  • All authors must meet the authorship policy, agree to submission, and disclose funding and conflicts of interest.
  • Research involving humans, animals, sensitive information, or regulated samples must comply with applicable ethical and safety requirements.
  • Authors must follow the current Author Guidelines and journal template, and provide data-availability information when appropriate.
  • The editorial office may decline a manuscript type not currently supported by its OJS submission sections or editorial policy.

Editorial confirmation: The journal should confirm the active submission sections for Short Communications and Review Articles in OJS before treating these categories as open for unsolicited submissions.
