Research Misconduct
Scope
al Kimiya: Jurnal Ilmu Kimia dan Terapan takes seriously allegations of fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unethical experimentation, image or spectrum manipulation, peer-review manipulation, citation manipulation, undisclosed competing interests, authorship misconduct, redundant publication, or other conduct that could compromise the published record.
How to Report a Concern
Concerns about submitted or published articles may be sent to alkimiya@uinsgd.ac.id, identifying the relevant manuscript or article and providing available documentation. Reports from named or anonymous whistleblowers will be considered when they contain sufficiently specific, verifiable information. The journal will make reasonable efforts to protect the confidentiality of good-faith informants and persons involved, subject to applicable law and due process.
Procedure
- Initial assessment: The Editor-in-Chief or an independent non-conflicted editor records the allegation and determines whether the available evidence warrants further consideration.
- Evidence preservation: Relevant manuscripts, reviews, correspondence, and research records are preserved. The journal may ask for original datasets, raw spectra, instrument output, and laboratory records as applicable.
- Right of response: Authors and other relevant parties are given a reasonable opportunity to explain or respond, without prematurely declaring wrongdoing.
- Independent advice: Where needed, the editor consults specialists, the publisher, ethical oversight bodies, or the author's institution. Institutions are ordinarily responsible for investigating alleged misconduct within the conduct of research.
- Outcome and record correction: Depending on evidence, actions may include no further action, clarification, editorial rejection, published correction, expression of concern, or retraction, with a transparent notice where appropriate.
The journal distinguishes substantiated concerns from unproven allegations and avoids retaliatory, discriminatory, or disproportionate responses. Publication charges must not influence the outcome of an investigation.
