Publication Ethics

Commitment to Research Integrity

al Kimiya: Jurnal Ilmu Kimia dan Terapan is committed to fair, transparent, independent, and responsible scholarly publishing. Its editorial policies are informed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. These documents serve as guidance; the journal does not claim COPE membership unless such membership is separately verified.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must report original research honestly and accurately; preserve appropriate primary data; describe methods sufficiently for evaluation; acknowledge relevant prior work; avoid duplicate or concurrent journal submissions; obtain required ethical approvals and legal permissions; disclose financial support and competing interests; and ensure that all listed authors have approved the submitted and final versions. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, undisclosed image manipulation, citation manipulation, inappropriate authorship, and misleading statements are prohibited.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors evaluate manuscripts on scientific merit and relevance without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political belief, institutional affiliation, or other unrelated personal characteristics. Editors protect confidential submissions, appoint qualified and independent reviewers, manage their own competing interests, and make reasoned editorial decisions. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by publication charges, sponsorship, advertising, or institutional pressure.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to provide objective and timely evaluations; protect confidentiality; disclose conflicts of interest; avoid misuse of unpublished findings; and alert editors confidentially to suspected publication or research misconduct.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

The institutional publisher supports editorial independence, recordkeeping, legal and ethical compliance, and the fair handling of complaints, appeals, and post-publication concerns. The publisher and editors should cooperate to safeguard the reliability of the published record.

Editorial Response to Ethical Concerns

Allegations concerning submitted or published work will be assessed according to documented procedures. Outcomes may include clarification, author response, independent review, rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction as warranted by the evidence. Allegations will be evaluated fairly and proportionately, including when submitted by whistleblowers or anonymous informants who provide verifiable evidence.

Further details are provided in the journal's policies on Authorship and Contributions, Conflicts of Interest, Research Ethics, Research Misconduct, Plagiarism Screening, Research Data, Complaints and Appeals, and Corrections and Retractions.
