Hijai: Journal on Arabic Language and Literature Vol. 4 No. 2 (2021) features a peer-reviewed collection of research papers demonstrating broad institutional and geographic diversity across Indonesia. This issue brings together contributions from scholars representing multiple regions, including West Java (UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung), East Java (UNUJA Probolinggo, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN KHAS Jember, UNWAHAS Jombang, & MAN 4 Jombang), and Bali (MI Al-Huda Pengastulan Seririt).

This geographic and institutional variety offers a rich, multidisciplinary perspective across Arabic linguistics, literature, calligraphy, and language pedagogy, encompassing:

  • Sociolinguistics & Classical Rhetoric: Sociolinguistic analysis of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) student dialects and rhetorical rhyming harmony (as-saja') in the Matan Zubad text by Sheikh Ahmad Ruslan Asy-Syafi'i.
  • Philology & Arabic Calligraphy (Khat): Textual error analysis in ancient manuscripts (Philological study of the Al-Mi'raj manuscript from Buntet Pesantren) and a comparative typographic study of Diwani Calligraphy scripts by master calligraphers (Muhammad Izzat, Musthafa Ghazlan Bik, and Hasyim Muhammad Baghdadi).
  • Digital Learning Media & EdTech: Evaluating the effectiveness of Mentimeter interactive tools during the COVID-19 pandemic and Android-based learning media integration using iSpring Suite for Arabic grammar (Nahwu-Saraf).
  • Educational Psychology & Student Motivation: Exploring the role of motivation in enhancing Arabic language learning enthusiasm in secondary Islamic schools (Madrasah Tsanawiyah).
