Hijai: Journal on Arabic Language and Literature Vol. 6 No. 1 (2023) features a peer-reviewed collection of scholarly articles demonstrating wide institutional and geographic diversity among its contributors. This issue brings together research from scholars across Indonesia, spanning East Java (UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang & UIN KH. Achmad Siddiq Jember) and West Java (UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung), as well as international perspectives from Saudi Arabia (Jouf University).

The published papers reflect a broad range of sub-disciplinary topics within Arabic linguistic and literary studies, encompassing:

  • Literary Studies, Politics, & Rhetoric: Political conflict analysis in Arabic novels, rhetorical simile (tashbih) in the Quran (Surah Yusuf), and rhetorical dialogue analysis (kalam khabari) in classical Arabic literature.
  • Arabic Linguistics & Lexicography: Modern lexicographical studies on I'jam and metaphorical meanings in modern Arabic dictionaries.
  • Pragmatics & Media Studies: Illocutionary speech act types and functions in educational animated films.
  • Translation & Syntax: Translation methods and techniques applied to classical Arabic poetry (Imam Shafi'i) and syntactic analysis of verbal nouns (masdar) in Arabic instructional texts.
